Free Rice!

In my green movement web surfing, I came across Free Rice. It’s a site that is part vocabulary game, part good deed. You go to the site and it displays a word and several multiple choices, one of which is the actual meaning of the word. If you guess correctly, then 10 grains of rice are donated to theUnited Nations Food Program . If you get it wrong, then an easier word will appear. Also, when you get a word right, the words following will increase in difficulty to help improve your vocab. It’s a new site that just launched in October but has already had a ton of traffic, and in turn, a huge amount of donated rice. The site makes absolutely no profit. The rice is purchased from revenue gathered from advertisements on the site. Free Rice is a sister site to Poverty.com I’m not one to go around preaching causes or forcing them on people, but this seemed like a simple and fun way to make a difference. If for some reason you’re not big on donating food to the hungry at least you might improve your vocab.
